COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course is designed to prepare students to pass the Florida State Contractors’ Examination which is a prerequisite for State certification and licensure.

 

These State examinations are (open-book) tests primarily derived from 14 Exam Reference Books which cover a broad and vast range of topics.

 

This is designed to be a very concise course and does not attempt to cover all the material in the Exam Reference Books but to isolate and pinpoint the topics currently being covered on the exams along with the review and explanation of typical study questions.

 

 

PREREQUISITES:

  Exam Prep Course:    NONE

  State Examination:   NONE

  State Licensure:        -Successful completion of State Examination.

-Four years work experience in the construction industry (college classes may be substituted for work experience).

-One year work experience as a supervisor in the classification applying for. (No substitutions accepted).

 

 

INSTRUCTIONAL OBJECTIVES:

Upon completion of this course the student will:

 

1. Develop a familiarity and understanding of the subject material currently being covered on the State examinations.

 

2. Develop a familiarity with the State required Exam Reference Books with adequate experience and proficiency in utilizing these references.

 

3. Understand the State examination procedure, criteria for success, what to expect on exam day and the appropriate test taking strategy.

2. Method of Presentation:

 

Narrated PowerPoint Lectures viewed on-line or installed on student’s computer.

 

3. Method of Review:

 

Interactive Study Question Software with associated explanations and/or solution presentations reviewed on-line or installed on student’s computer.

Flash Card Review Software reviewed on-line or installed on student’s computer.

 

 

STUDENT EVALUATION:

The student may utilize “Practice Exam Software” to create a typical exam with the same content criteria as the Florida Sate Contractors’ Exam. This practice exam will be timed just like the State exam and their performance will be categorized by section or exam reference book allowing the student to pinpoint and isolate any area of weakness for review. The student may test themselves as often as they like, a new set of typical questions will be randomly-computer-generated each and every time the student launches a new test. This “Self Evaluation Tool” will allow the student to ensure that they have successfully mastered the required material and techniques and are adequately prepared for their State Examination.

 

LESSON PLAN AND OUTLINE:

The student will view or attend lectures reviewing the subject material as outlined below and highlight the appropriate answer passages in their Exam Reference Books as directed. The student will then review the corresponding Study Questions with associated explanations and/or solution presentations.
