Mechanical Contractor License Exam
Exam Information:
In the State of Florida certified Mechanical contractors must pass a Business & Finance exam plus two Trade Knowledge examinations with a minimum score of 70%. These tests may be taken in any order, but since the Business & Finance books and study material are required for both exams (for many, but not all license classifications), it is much easier to prepare, pass, and get this exam completed first.
(1) Business & Finance Exam — "Computer Based Test"
This is an "Open Book Test" utilizing 3 exam reference books with (120) scored multiple choice questions to be completed in a (6 ½) hour test session. It is administered on computer at over a thousand Pearson VUE testing centers across the country, and students may schedule the exam at any location and on any date convenient for them.
(2) Mechanical Trade Knowledge Exam — "Paper & Pencil Tests"
(Two sessions: AM and PM.) These are also both "Open Book Tests" utilizing 19 exam reference books, with 65 scored multiple choice questions for each session, each to be completed in 4 ¾ hours. These tests are offered every even month in Tallahassee, Orlando and Miami. Students must register at least 30 days in advance of their target test date.
